“Catacomb Rescue” (Episode 3) continues the story of a Christian leader, Ben, and his family’s adventures living in Ancient Rome whose mission is to keep Jesus’s stories alive during the 1st century.
Ben as a boy, got to know Jesus. He was the boy in the Bible who shared his lunch with Jesus of 5 loaves of bread and 2 small fish. Jesus turned this boy’s lunch into enough food to feed 5,000 men, and many thousands more woman and children. There were even 12 large baskets of leftover bread and fish. Now an adult baker of bread and pastries, Ben tells others about Jesus in the city of Rome. Evil Emperor Nero, wants to kill all Christians in Rome, including Ben and his friends. These animated stories are very entertaining and well done.
In this episode, an aging story teller, a friend of Ben from Israel, comes to tell the children the story of the Good Samaritan. Later, chased by 2 centurions, Tacticus and the evil Nihilus, 2 of the children hear a cry for help and discover Tacticus down a hole deserted by his colleagues. Risking their lives and risking betraying Ben the Story Teller and the rest of the underground Christians, the children, remembering the story they have heard, pull the man out. The stories of the Sower and the unforgiving servant are also told in this episode.
Hilda’s Mom, Elaine, Daniel, Hilda and I really like these shows. They give us an impression of what life for early Christians was like – exciting, dangerous, and people loving Jesus in spite of great persecution.
Suitable for ages 5 and up. Enjoy!
