Do you need encouragement to move forward with bold confidence to believe that God will help you?
I’m still walking through a “night” period, since my treasured sweetheart Hilda passed into Heaven with Jesus. The Bible says
“weeping may remain for a night, but rejoicing comes in the morning” (Psalm 30:5).
During this time, God’s Holy Spirit, The Comforter, is comforting me greatly. This morning I spent a couple of hours looking through just some of the many precious cards I received from Hilda. They contained beautiful messages of love toward me. These were comforting reminders to me that Hilda is waiting for me, with lines like “I love you and I always will.”
“Each of us may be sure that if God sends us over rocky paths,
He will provide us with sturdy shoes.
He will never send us on any journey without equipping us well.”
(Alexander Maclaren)
“Thy shoes shall be iron and brass; and as thy days,
so shall thy strength be.” (Deuteronomy 33:25 KJV)
Many of God’s promises to us are conditional. They require some action on our part. When we begin to obey, He will begin to bless us. What is God asking you to trust Him to help you with? For me, it’s getting back to painting. I have not painted for several months, and it’s surprising how doubt sets in that you cannot do it well enough, so just don’t try. Has that ever happened to you? There are times when God is waiting for us to move forward with a confident step.
There were ten lepers who were all healed by Jesus. Jesus told them to go and show the priest that they had been healed. They had to walk toward the priest in the temple, and “as they went, they were cleansed” (Luke 17:14). God was waiting to heal them, and that blessing came when their faith began to result in obedient action.
We may think we can never be victorious so we don’t move forward. But God says, “through Jesus we are more than conquerors” (Romans 8:37). Our Helper, the Holy Spirit will come alongside us if we go forward, like Joshua and the Israelites going into the promised land.
Hilda, you have always encouraged me greatly to draw and paint, and with the Lord’s help I will move forward today, through the tears and grief of missing you. I will see you again someday soon.
God bless you, our dear friends as you take a step of faith in God to move forward. The Holy Spirit will never leave you and will help you.
These cards are sooo precious to me.
